We are the proud owners of “Wild At Heart”, a conservation area owned by school and designed by the children. Here we enjoy outdoor learning across all areas of the curriculum in the Poly Tunnel, the Viewing Deck, the Log Circle, the Dipping Pond, the Fire Pit, the Willow Tunnel and the Wild Walk itself through fruit orchards and wild summer flowers. The whole school worked on a project to create a wall hanging of Wild At Heart, with every child and adult contributing some feature of the conservation area.
We are fortunate to have David Hawes, our School Forest Consultant, who works with the children in family groups across the whole school, to develop the site even further as we have become a Forest School. We are building our our self-esteem and confidence through developing our practical skills by building shelters, bug hotels, bridges, walk ways and further outdoor rooms in Wild At Heart. Watch this space for further developments!
We are a Forest School
Our Wild At Heart conservation area provides first hand learning and team building skills for all of the children across the school.
All of our children, from 3 to 11 years old, work together in family groups to explore the outside learning area first hand, constructing shelters, creating outside art installations and cooking outdoors.
